How to ship your photos
Packaging your photos properly for shipment to Scanapix is very important. You want to make sure your photos are secure and safe. By following the packaging guidelines and tips below, you can be sure your photos will be received in the same condition it was sent.
Pre Packing
Choosing a Box - make sure you choose a sturdy box that is undamaged with all flaps intact. Please do not ship your items in a shoebox or any type of box where your photos can fall through the seams. We always recommend you use a box to ship your photos. However, if you want to use a padded envelope, please do so at your own discretion.
The Zip-Loc Treatment - Putting your photos in a Zip-Loc bag and sealing them prevents any moisture or dust damage to your photos. This is also a handy way to group your photos together and minimize these photos from shifting during delivery. If you do not have any Zip-Loc bags around, please wrap the photos in any sort of plastic or protective material, something like a trash bag or grocery bag.
Larger photos - During transit, your photos will move around as the box is moved from its location. If you have larger photos and you are afraid of the photos getting bent, we recommend you use a couple pieces of cardboard slightly larger than the biggest photo you have and sandwich your photos in between these cardboard pads while taping the together at all the seams.
Tracking Number - Always remember to ship your photos to us via a service that supplies you with a tracking number.
The 5 step shipping process
- Group your photos together
Organize your photos and figure out which photos you want to get scanned. We will scan them in the order we receive your pictures. By doing this, you will also get a better idea as to what size box or envelope you will want to use.
- Secure your photos
Put your photos in a Zip-Loc bag or other protective material and package everything together in your shipping box or envelope. If there is extra space, you can crumple up old magazine paper or any light material to keep your contents from moving. Once in the box, give it a few shakes to make sure your photos will be secure.
- Place your order online at Scanapix
On the order page, we will ask you how many photos you are sending to us. This is just an estimate, for your sake, to have an idea how much your order will cost you. We will charge you depending on the number of completed scans we complete right before we ship your order back to you.
- Complete your order
We recommend that you print out your confirmation email. You will need the 'ship to' address shown to provide your shipping service an address to ship to.
- Drop off your photos
You can bring your photos to any drop off location for UPS or FedEx. There are some areas where these shippers will also come to pick up your package. You can contact them to find out more info. Make sure you are provided with a tracking number and keep this tracking number in a safe place until your order is received by us.
